Seeing Potential Smile Changes Before Treatment
- Hey everybody, Dr. Lee Brown here. One of the most common things people ask me about is, “What will my teeth look like? What will my smile look like? How will my bite feel and make me feel?” This can come up if we decide to do whitening, if I need to align my teeth, or if we cover them with bonding, porcelain, veneers, or other treatments.
- Just like you have to put paint on the wall and see how it looks, it’s nice to understand what’s going on. What’s great now with some of our technology is that we can quite literally start to design things sooner and give you an opportunity to see if some of these changes available with our modern dental technology are something you would like to pursue further.
Using a Digital Simulation to Explore Your Smile
- Just like in my own home, if we’re getting a new front door, I’d love to see what it looks like ahead of time. So I’ll give you a quick example of one of the things that we take a look at.
- Here we are. This is a simulation of a potential patient with some more yellow teeth. What will they look like if they’re whiter? What if they’re longer? What if they’re more symmetrical? What if I show less gum tissue? These are all things we can kind of type in and dial in.
Creating a Blueprint With the End in Mind
- It’s helpful from a visual standpoint for you as the patient to see. But just as importantly, as we go to create a blueprint or a roadmap to help get you there, if we begin with the end in mind, we can design it better. We can set better expectations, timeline, and everything else.
- It’s really exciting what we can do. Our team can help you out with this. Ask us questions if you’ve ever thought about something like this, and we’d be happy to design a simulation for you. I hope this helps, and I look forward to seeing you soon.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a digital smile simulation?
A digital smile simulation allows patients to see potential changes to their smile before deciding whether they want to pursue treatment. Dr. Lee Brown explains that the technology can visualize possible changes involving tooth color, length, symmetry, and visible gum tissue, providing a clearer picture of what different smile modifications could look like.
Can I preview what my teeth may look like after cosmetic dental treatment?
Yes. Dr. Brown explains that modern dental technology can help patients visualize potential smile changes involving whitening, tooth alignment, bonding, porcelain veneers, and other modifications. The simulation provides a visual reference so patients can better understand possible changes before deciding whether they would like to pursue treatment further.
What smile changes can be explored with a digital simulation?
A simulation can explore potential changes such as making teeth appear whiter, longer, or more symmetrical, as well as changing how much gum tissue is visible. These visual options help patients and the dental team discuss the desired appearance and begin developing a potential roadmap for treatment.
Why does Dr. Brown use smile simulations when planning treatment?
Smile simulations help patients visualize potential changes while also giving the dental team a clearer starting point for planning. Dr. Brown explains that beginning with the end in mind can help create a better blueprint or roadmap and establish clearer expectations about the treatment process and timeline.
How can I request a smile simulation at Freedom Dental of West Chester?
Patients interested in seeing potential smile changes can ask Dr. Lee Brown or the team at Freedom Dental of West Chester about creating a simulation. The technology can provide a visual representation of possible changes and help patients decide whether they would like to explore treatment options further.
