Dr. Brown Speaks the Tooth: Crowns – A Functional and Aesthetic Upgrade
Patients never like to hear that they are experiencing tooth decay and need a treatment intervention. However, that is the reality for a number of patients, and we want to offer treatments that will not only restore their oral health and the function of their teeth, but also improve their quality of life. In another installment of “Dr. Brown Speaks the Tooth”, Dr. Brown shares more about the importance of dental crowns and how they can improve the function of your smile while also creating a beautiful aesthetic appearance. Create a Strong Foundation
As Dr. Brown explains in the video, your rear molars create a strong foundation to help you chew and enjoy the foods you love. When that foundation isn’t what it should be, it can lead to discomfort, issues with bite, and the need to avoid your favorite foods. This creates a quality of life that is less than ideal, and we don’t want that for anyone. When teeth are extremely decayed but the tooth root is still healthy and intact, we normally recommend a dental crown. A dental crown is a covering that is permanently placed over the tooth, creating a natural-looking replacement that blends in with the surrounding teeth.
Put Yourself First
We see many patients who have a hard time putting themselves first and taking the leap to restore their smiles. It is easy to put yourself on the back burner and become engulfed in your family, work, and social commitments. As Dr. Brown explains, it’s important to think about the quality of life you wish to have. Making changes now can give you better oral health for years to come. Repairing a tooth with a dental crown allows patients to fix an issue before a further problem develops and the need for a more extensive treatment, such as a root canal, is needed. As you saw in the video, one patient decided to put himself first and now has a beautiful smile that he can enjoy worry free.
